DAYNAME

Returns the English name of the day of a specific date.  (For example, whether a specific date is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.)

Syntax

DAYNAME(year_input, month_input, day_input, short_name)

year_input - the 4-digit year to be considered.
month_input - the month (in numeric format) to be considered.
day_input - the day to be considered.
short_name - Optional.  Boolean, either TRUE or FALSE.  Function returns the short name if TRUE, long name if FALSE.  Default value is FALSE if omitted.

Example

DAYNAME(2005, 6, 9) returns “Thursday”.
DAYNAME(2005, 6, 9, TRUE) returns “Thu”.
